Earth
What OECG Loves About Her
Humanity
Because we are part of the Earth’s unfolding story—not above it. We love the courage, compassion, and creativity that live in people. We believe humanity can become a healing force when it remembers its kinship with all life.
Landscapes
Because every place can be a poem. Mountains, deserts, forests, coasts—each carries memory, myth, and meaning. We love the land not only for its beauty, but for how it teaches presence.
Nature
Because she is more than scenery—she is a teacher, healer, and companion. We love the cycles of growth, becoming, and decay, the sound of rain, and the world that exists in the trees. Nature is both a mirror and a mystery, yet also, a mighty opponent if you don't take care of her well.
The Wild
Because wildness reminds us of freedom. We love the untamed, the instinctive, and the uncolonized. The wild shows us what lives beyond control, beyond walls, beyond certainty.
Youth
Because the youth carries the future, fervor, and fire. We love their questions, their boldness, and their untold dreams. Youth is the Earth’s hope for tomorrow—in energy, in imagination, in care.
Children
Because children come into the world to remind us of life. We love their tenderness, honesty, and wide-open minds. To love children is to protect the world they are growing into.
History
Because history is more than what happened—it is how we remember. We love stories of resistance, resilience, and re-rooting. To honor the past is to shape a more conscious path forward.
I. Earth is our Planet
IGP honors Earth because she is not just a resource, but a relationship to where we reside, live, and do what we love.
Through our work, we express our love for nature, its well-being and its beauty through words, art and creativity.
At Our Earthian Community Group (OECG), we see Earth as a multi-dimensional canvas meant to be loved, learned from, and passed on to other generations. We don’t just mark Earth Day once a year. We try to honor how we feel about the planet in the little things we do, every day.
II. What Is Earth Day?
On April 22nd, celebrated as an annual global movement:
- Remember our belonging to the web of life
- Renew our creative and ethical care for the planet
- Reconnect with each other and the more-than-human world
- Resist systems that destroy ecosystems and dignity
- Restore what is damaged, forgotten, or devalued
- Reimagine futures rooted in joy, justice, and beauty
- Respond to the call of conscience—with voices, hands, and hearts
